    Hi. along with the casting  # 3418915e on the heads i found these #,s  AAWJ 360 . according to my resto book, these are TA 340 heads. 1970 only. Are these better heads ie High performance , hard to come by. Thanks Terry ps i have a 69 block i want to put these on. Will they be fine to use.

    those are 360 heads!! they had the same cast numbers as the 340 and 340ta heads but the 360 stamping on them tells you if there 340 or 360 heads!! if they work ta heads they would have and x 340 stamped and starndars 340s where j stamped!! i think!! but those are 360 heads!! and yes they will work on any la (small block 318 340 360) block!!

    69 340 heads are 2531894!!   tas in 70(only) where the 6 pac heads very rare!! but they are 915 casts i think they where x or j stamped i cant remember!! let me find out and il get back to ya!!

    In my resto book on small blocks it states...... if you,e dealing with early model 340 heads, casting 2531894, this head has been replaced by the 360 head., # 3418915 which is machined to 340 specs. this 360 head is identical to the early 340 in port size and shape, valve size, and com- chamber volume. despite the different cast #, it is sold under the early 340 part # 2531894.  AAwj 360 cast#   TA 340 was the first engine to use this casting, because the 360 was not released until one year later. ahhhhh ?????

    the TA heads are 915 castings with J cast into them the telltail is the relocated intake pushrod hole beside the intake port
