As the title says, I need some guidance, advice, etc on an issue I am experiencing with the paint on my Cuda. I painted this car last summer and have yet to assemble it. I worked hard to get it painted and went through a lot of trials and tribulations. Suffice to say I got it done, then somewhere along the way I had an issue when a piece of metal I was grinding skipped across the right rear quarter leaving 3 nicks. A few weeks ago I set about fixing the damage and got it leaved out, scuffed up and then went on to spray it. Upon cutting and buffing I noticed a line on the sail panel, I wet sanded it and buffed it repeatedly and eventually got to the point in the picture which is there is a transition where the paint is lighter (first paint job) and darker (repaired area).
So after a lot of thought I have reached the conclusion that I am probably going to have to reshoot the car to get it evened out but before I do I wanted to come here and get some more opinions. So the "ask" here is this;
1. is there anyway to fix (without respraying the whole car) what I have going on now, if so what?
2. if there isn't anyway to fix it and I have to respray it;
a. can I scuff the existing paint and shoot over it? (I am not concerned about the final color, only that it is uniform)
b. do I need to reprime the car before respraying it?
While this sucks, the car is still essentially "ready for paint" in that it is not assembled. I do have the AAR blackout on it which I will have to mask but other than that, I just need to mask the car and go.
I appreciate any relevant assistance/advice given
