    How rare is my challenger?

    I have a 70 challenger RT 440 w/ 4 speed pistol grip shifter. I have no fender tag or build sheet. Only Vin, which is JS23UOE136750. Was originally light blue but I can't tell what code. Any idea how to narrow down the 1 of .....

    1970 Challenger RT, 440. 4sp production = 916

    It's been repainted black but trunk shows a little blue. Not sure which. Also, the 440 is a warranty block replaced in 75 but looks just like what would have came in 70. Would that be "period correct?"

    What's with everyone needing to know how rare their cars is?   Know there where more 69 Camaro's made than total E body production over the five year run & Enjoy owning/driving it and just be happy....   Someone's gonna have a rarer car, most won't......

    Nothing wrong with trying to find the rarity of the car. I plan on having it for a long time. Not asking so I can add it to this month's challenger craigslist ad. Car would be my daily if I could.

    Can you post a picture of the color blue that is still showing on the car?

    I checked under the backseat when I first bought the car but no sheet. I'm on my way back to Ca from Vegas so I'll take some photos of the paint when I get home. Enfine plate is blank so probably a warranty block. Casting date puts it at about 75. Tranny is not numbers matching but 1970 A833

    Other place to check for a build sheet.

    front seat backs
    under carpet
    headliner
    over the glove box

    If it's a California built car, then chances of find a sheet are greatly reduced.

    Per the vin it was assembled at the LA plant, so that stinks. I'll have to check those spots out. I sent it in to a local shop to get the holley rebuilt so i'll check it once I get it back. I am in the inland empire as well. Hemet.

    I have a 70 RT from the LA plant. Mines only a 383 car but like yours, it's a 4 speed car. The problem with no fender tag or build sheet is there's really no way to prove down the road that it was an actual 4 speed car or that a particular color was original to the car. But I agree with Wild RT that it's not all that important since you have a truly fantastic car that most muscle car owners will be jealous of.
