Low Fuel Light Wiring for Over Head Console
« on: July 19, 2017 - 06:45:40 PM »
I am finishing the wiring in my dash before putting it back in the car. The harness from the low fuel relay to the gauge has the same type of connector as the one from the sender unit (push on).  The sender lead attaches to the left side (Dark Blue) and the voltage limiter to the right side (Black).  Looking at some wiring diagrams, it loos like both of the dark blue leads should be connected together.  Can anyone confirm this, and do you have any pictures of how the original harness is connected together for an overhead console?

Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure that the blue wire from the overhead console low fuel light goes right past the instrument panel and connects to the low fuel relay behind the glove box.  Then another blue wire goes from the relay across the dash to the fuel gauge.  Do you have a wiring diagram from the original service manual?  I think it's in there.

Found the page.  The slightly thinner blue wire goes to  the relay. The thicker wire (G4A-18DBL) goes to one side of the fuel gauge.  The normal fuel gauge wire goes to the other side.

Thanks, I just found that too. I was confused because another diagram I found on the web shows it as both dark blue wires go to the same side of the gauge, and the other side to the voltage limiter.

I hooked it up like the picture, the wire from the relay to the left side, and the wire from the sending unit on the right.

Exactly, the fuel gauge gets disconnected from the IVR & the low fuel relay supplies the voltage....

Ok, then I should unplug the wire from IVR (on the right) and plug the lead from the LFR in.
