Lower Windshield Trim and Wipers

It seems my windshield wipers won't park properly at the recess below the hood line because the windshield lower SS trim isn't hugging the windshield shape. The bulging trim is just not against the windshield enough so it stops the wipers from resting far down enough. I wondered why the PO had them clocked to park above the hood line, now I know why.

Ive adjusted the hood little to give the wipers little more room but the still don't park down enough.

Any ideas or anyone have this problem?

I have brand new glass [proper thickness rope] AND brand new AMD windshield trim and it does not sit perfectly against the glass. I don't have the wipers in yet, but I know it'll be an issue.

I have new AMD front windshield and the lower trim fits pretty good and flat.
I would make sure theres nothing from keeping the trim to lay flat and do you have the proper wipers?
If the wipers are high it can hit the hood and cause it not to retract fully.
Maybe some play in the wiper linkage?

My lower chrome trim bows away from the windshield as if it has a incorrect bent, or possibly the end mounting holes are mislocated? This trim as far as I know is original. Is there a different trim for 70 chall convert?

My trim did not sit flush enough and stopped the wipers from parking. I pumped the area full of silicone then placed a roll of paper towels vertically over the area and closed the hood. The paper towels held the trim down while the silicone set up. I waited a few days to allow the silicone to fully dry then open the hood and everything stayed in place. That was 3 years ago. Btw, silicone does squeeze out but can be easily cleaned off of the glass and trim. I placed a piece of wax paper between the paper towels and the glass/trim.

I just passed on what someone here had told me.

Since many of us don't drive in the rain is the wiper parking issue on a dry or wet window. Mine will park  ok when wet.

Unrelated but related question; I want to remove the windshield trim first (before the paper-towel roll adhesion process) as it could use a good buffing.
I also have a vinyl top. I assume the windshield uses those "hinge" clips. I see the lower parts are screwed down. Where do I start the removal process on the windshield?
