I am looking at a 1971 340 Cuda it is going to be at the Mecum Auction in Dallas 09/08/2017 any Info. would be greatly appreciated .BS23H1B398378 Thanks .

I can see from the VIN that it is a real Cuda (from the S), that it is a real 340 (from the H), and it was made late in 1971 (from the last six of the serial number). Without knowing more, I'm guessing that a really nice version of this car could go for 50k in the right market if buyers are feeling like buying. Do you have other details on the car?

I envy you being able to go to the show to buy like this. That would be great fun! If you can, try and inspect the car well for signs of corrosion and for number verification. A lot of these cars are running engines that are period correct but no longer numbers original to the car they are in.

The advantage you have in this case is that at higher prices (like this car will be), there won't be a lot of guys able or willing to pull the trigger on a 50k toy. I'd be surprised if there isn't a high reserve on this car and it goes unsold.

Thanks for posting that link. That car is amazing! A 71 Cuda has always been on my bucket list of cars to own. Aside from the color, that is exactly how I'd want mine. Not that the color is bad, I like it a lot. I just want a sassy grass green one.

I agree that it's a 60-70k car. If you get it, please post some pics in here.

I saw this car a few years back , but if I recall it's the real deal .
Do not recall if it is number's matching, but knowing the owner it likely is.

Check out "Streetside Classics" my old 71 Cuda is listed for $65k Looks like a nice paint job and a little detailing since I sold it for $35k!!!! Guess it really was a bargain???

71 Cudas have really gone up over the years. Only a couple years ago, on this forum I believe, we had a debate about the value of these cars. Some were arguing that a nicely restored numbers matching 4 speed 340 Cuda was only a 35k car. I see 71 Barracudas in junk condition sell for 15-20k and they sell fast.

I would have to say, even non numbers matching.  I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for at least 70k. 340 shaker 4spd alone is very much rare and in demand. Add all the rest ,the color ,options and broadcast sheet . I cant see it sell for less.In fact I could see it go for even more. Just my 2 cents Hope you buy it! Love that car

Does anyone know what happened to theis car? Its off mecum. That don't show the car no more. And its not sold through the auction or else they would have showed the selling price. Maybe Dana bought it for himself?I was very curious to see how much it sold for.

Someone on facebook said it sold for $72,000 but I can't confirm that.

They sold one for 72k but it was a cLone hemi  car
