Burpins Dream
« on: July 06, 2005 - 03:47:28 PM »
ok to start off, IT WASNT ABOUT APRIL. but burpin wishes it was.  (just kidding joe, tell burpin to shut his hole and burpin will) so anyways back to burpins dream. Burpin had a dream that he had a billet 71 grill and left it in its natural color and it looked good. Is there someone that is good with photo shop that can show burpin what an aluminum grill look like on an orange cuda with matching rims. It doesnt even have to be a 71. You can use burpins 72. And then the next question is, is this possible, Burpin doesnt see why not, and last how much would it cost.

I think it could be done on a large enough CNC milling machine. Cost for programing and tooling would probably be really high plus the cost of a big enough chunk of billet aluminum to start with.
It would look cool though.

Burpin, I feel the wisdom in your quest.

I have no clue if it could be done, but sounds like a great idea.  My only concern is that fact the plastic "gives" (and cracks) when the cap moves, etc.  A metal grille may crack also, unless the mounting locations have some cushing.

Good point, Burpin may have to do some fabricating to put it on bushings or something in that effect. Burpin was looking at the car of the month and a billet grill would be the best on a triple back car. Burpin needs to get more money. maybe burpin can pimp himself out, or even the Cuda. What would some of you Female Cuda owners pay for a stud fee. Burpin has one real mean chunk of metal and would make great offspring.

A cheaper way to go would be to see if a grill could be flash chromed like interior plastic parts.  :dontknow:
I had considered that for my '73, not sure how it would look though. I have an extra set of scoop inserts I was going to get chromed to go with the chrome sport mirrors. Chrome on triple black would be cool.  8)

All right, those with photo shop. Take the car of the month and but an aluminum grill on it, aluminum side gills, aluminum shaker and aluminum go wing. Or would that be too much. Burpin is getting ready to hunt down another 72 cuda with straight body but needs full restore to begin Burpins 10 year project.
