Measure Your Wheel Opening Height
« on: September 05, 2017 - 07:27:38 PM »
I was hoping to get a rough idea of where my suspension sits in relation to other e-body cars, stock, modified, lowered, etc.  Can you measure the height of the wheel opening on your car from the ground to the top of the arch on the fender and then again on the quarter.  Also state whether its a Cuda or Challenger.  Feel free to add some notes on your set up.  I will start:

'72 Challenger
24" to the wheel lip on the front fender - Stock small block front end & t-bars
26" to the opening on the quarter - 3600lb Super Stock rear leaf springs

1973 Cuda, 23.75" at center of fenders all the way around.... BUT I was pretty much riding on the front bump stops (I just switched them out to low profile parts) and in the rear my pinion snubber bump stop hits on the floor board regularly.  I have a front leaf spring hanger with two hole locations: stock and 1.5" lowered.  I've been running it in the lowered position (which is actually higher on the part) and will be moving it back to the stock position to raise the rear end a little.  I'm hoping these two changes will improve ride quality.

Tires are 255/50-16 front and back

1973 Cuda, 26.25" on the front fenders. 28 " on the back. I'm running expo 2" over stock leaf springs with the front of the spring in the bottom hole for maximum height. 225- 70 -15s on the front and 275-60-15s on the back.
