Hi guys,

After a bit of info.  My 70 r/t challenger is factory 4 speed and factory air con going by the trim tag.  It has no console.  There is no console mentioned on the trim tag however it seems very unusual to option up ac and not a centre console.  Question is would a console be noted in the trim tag or will it be on a broadcast sheet (that I don’t have)

Cheers guys

Thanks for the info.

I did wonder why anyone would pay big bucks for AC then cheap out on a console  :clueless:

Its pretty hard here in Australia to get a guage on how popular or rare some options / combinations are. And considering dodge kept no records doesn't help either.

My factory combo of

TX9
H6e4
4 Speed
and AC

may be a rare combo indeed.

Guess I better put her back to original.

Don't know if I can let go of the 440 six pack though :violin:

I don't think it's so unusual that you should be forced to keep it all original. I'd keep the six pack set up if you really like it.

First & foremost.... It's your car, engine swaps are just nuts & bolts.... Do what makes you happy... But keep the stock parts if you have them...

Now the other side.. :roflsmiley:

440 with 4 spd, A/C wasn't an option

440-6  A/C wasn't an option..

So you'll never fool those who know & I doubt thats your intent...

FWIW as you know when that Sixpack has all the barrels open things get exciting pretty quickly.... I wouldn't want to give that up...

Oh, about the console, they always rattle, they make access to the rear seat a little tougher & without one your GF can slide over next to you....

HAHA not at all.

I have the 383 on an engine stand in the garage was thinking of stroking it and putting it back in.

I am well aware that 6 packs never had an ac option.  So if I was trying to fool anyone I would have removed the AC and the Vin tag

I love it when when the six pack comes on song,  but must admit I don’t like waiting for it lol.   It’s like oh here it comes and then oops there go the tyres. Lol

Didn’t think about access to the rear seat .

And on the other note I’m married with 2 kids so the missus don’t want to sit next to me anyway

Black with red interior is what I am always looking for. That's one cool car you have there.

Do you have the fender tag readout listed on any other threads?

Thank mate

Have you come across many black and red trim r/t's. I am forever looking for photos and find them realy hard to come by.  Obviously in australia you dont come across a huge amount of e-bodies.  **** loads of camaros and mustangs though.

Trim tag details are

I've only seen two other with that combo.  Black exterior with red interior.  The other options were different.  They are both high dollar cars.

That is one cool car you have there. Very rare color option.  I hope you keep it that way.  Not that many made like that.

Let's see some pics of the car.  Do you have a build thread yet?

Yep - that color combo is fairly uncommon. No solid numbers available for that particular combo, but each color by itself is pretty low production.

There were only 506 R/Ts painted TX9 Black that were shipped to US dealerships.
There were only 318 R/Ts with the H6E4 Red interior that were shipped to the US.

You could speculate that there were easily less than 100 R/Ts that were Black/Red,
probably more like less than 50. And maybe only a handful that actually still exist.

When you combine 383, 4spd, A/C, and the color combo - you will likely not find another one like it.

Great car!

Scott.

I'm doing a 383 4 speed car right now but it came burnt orange in and out. I've struggled on whether to keep it all original but if I did deviate from stock, I'd go black with a red interior. That combo looks amazing.

The only 3 I have seen are
2 x 6 pack cars
1 x t/a

When I bought the car it had already been sprayed plum crazy and interior changed to black.  It is as it sits a very nice car. Even managed to snag a few trophies 🏆..  it’s what I would consider a great driver condition.

The good thing is that I can slowly gather the bits I need and save up for the respray and whatever trim pieces I can’t find.  When the time comes I will start a thread 👍.

Thanks for the insight on production numbers.  It is greatly appreciated.

If the combination wasn’t so rare even though I think the black on red is an awesome colour combo I would most likely leave it plum crazy.  However I am a sucker for heritage and think it deserves to be put back for history’s sake.
