Placement of 4-speed hump

I am wanting to cut floor on my cuda to weld in a 4-speed hump. Looking for some help as to exactly where it should go. Any photos or measurements be grateful appreciated. I see a members project challenger resto that would be very helpful ,but only if 71 cuda and 70 challenger set ups are the same.

If you have the hump, it petty much falls into position.  Trace the outline on the floor, remove hump, offset the cutline by the measured flange. Leave the floor in place where it covers the trans brace.

That's my advice as well. Leave a little extra floor metal on the inside just for wiggle room. I'd use lots of cleco fasteners to hold it all in place. You may need to bend the flange here and there to make it fit nice all the way around with no big gaps. Be sure to use a good panel sealant between the floor and the hump. You will find it's fairly simple to put this in.

Thanks larry4406. Hump fits snug on the tunnel hump but lots of gaps on the floor pan. Great tip about leaving floor on trans brace.

Thanks Beekeeper, I was referring to your 70 Challenger rebuild thread and photos. Any chance you can run a tape to see how far front of shifter hole is from the firewall seam join ?

Only want to cut once. My diff is still in so I could attach the drive shaft and then measure the 4-speed to see where shifter sits. Easier than dropping the engine in. Small issue of not having a 4-speed my mean I need help from C-C members.

I had an original hump that I took out of a junk yard car many years ago.  Here are pictures of when I put the hump in.  Sorry no measurements.  Project on hold :(

Id be cautious on my measurements since mine is a challenger rather than a Cuda. I think if you're really concerned, it might be best to wait until you have the engine and trans in. You could leave the shifter handle off and see where the shifter mechanism touches the floor then trim accordingly little by little. The pic you posted looks nice. It's not unusual to have to tweak the flanges until it matches up nice with the floor. Get some of the cleco clips. A set of 25 with the tool is really cheap. They are great are holding panels together with a little pressure

I think the extra wheel base in the challengers vs Cudas is in the rear foot wells so I would think beekeepers measurements would be accurate.

Bit worried about the look of my 4-speed hump  :clueless: , you both have a square shaped hole for shifter hole, have I been given a B-body hump ?

 :banghead:   either I got the part number wrong or Summit sent wrong hump  :stomp: , looks like I got a 67-69 hump. Just have to order another, time consuming  , but plenty of other jobs to do..

Yes very true. My hump had a stamped “male” protrusion that engaged the corresponding female groove in the floor pan thus registering it into position. Visible on left side near the shifter hole, flange side.

Yea, that’s for sure not an ebody hump. Cuda and Challenger position is the same.
