Barracuda QUESTIONS ABOUT UNUSUAL ENGINE BAY
« on: December 23, 2017 - 04:33:43 PM »
1972 Barracuda
ok,

looking further into this car I got couple months ago...been off road long time......

very earlier build date 7/30/71

some strange things......car has a rally dash not coded for it.......

engine bay is painted black...over orig blue....

car is bone stock, pretty loaded with options.....

only thing non stock where mag wheels from 70's...

look at pics of engine bay.........appears to me someone would have had to remove engine to have done such a thorough job painting engine bay black.........looks like no over spray any where.....

why would someone go to all that trouble on a bone stock car?

Engine bay should be body color. Not uncommon at all for them to spray painted black, I have done a few myself. If you are careful it isn't that hard to avoid most if not all over spray.

dash can be changed in a few hours.  Pretty easy switch.

I do the same thing you're doing with every new car....try to decipher the mystery of how it got where it did before reaching me. Trust me, you'll drive yourself crazy trying to solve all the mysteries of your car. I'd just make it the way you like and move on. I've wasted countless hours trying to figure out why something was the way it was. In the end, you'll never really know unless you locate previous owners.

tb3 with white/black interior is a great combo for that year!

Previous owner wanted to it to be like a GM car.

Often it's due to laziness if they wanted the outer color to be changed from stock.
