Are good pins enough?
« on: January 03, 2018 - 06:28:37 PM »
Hey guys,
Just got my Challenger not too long ago. To keep the hood down, the only thing keeping it down is the hood pins. Is that enough, does anybody else trust just told pins? I was wondering if I should get a latch/hook as well but they appear rare and expensive. Thanks for your opinions.

It'll work fine, just ensure they hold the hood down snug.

Pins have been holding the fiberglass hoods on the AAR Cuda and T/A Challenger since 1970.
Nascar uses them.

As long as you don't forget to pin them you are good.

Second this!  Seen a few buddies hoods fly off after forgetting to put the pins back in!  I've done it myself, but luckily I noticed it before it was too late!

A guy I knew was one of the car takers of a collector who had an original 68 Hemi dart; went to take it to drive it (one of their jobs) and ended up at a gas station where he removed the hood (fiberglass lift off) and put it onto the roof, you guessed it, he forgot it and drove off and the hood fell off...needless to say he doesn't work there any longer (I don't think this was the reason though).
