Ohio Nats anyone?
« on: January 10, 2018 - 01:10:16 PM »
I know this is a forum specifically for Carlisle...

Buuuuuut...looks like I may not be going to Carlisle this year for 2018 but may be doing Ohio Nats...Can anyone chime in
as far as comparison to Carlisle etc?

How important is the THURSDAY for Ohio?   Carlisle, we usually get there Thursday so we get a sgood spot, check out parts etc....

Does getting to Ohio on Thursday make sense in the same way?

Very different. Not sure about Thursday swap. 1) There are two sections for show cars. The main show field and on the other side of the drag strip, the judged area. The judged area is VERY far from the main showfield. Almost like having two different shows. 2) The cars are NOT arranged by type or even year. There are no spots to claim like at Carlisle. It's different every day. When I went a couple of years ago, my '70 Cuda was parked with Omni's, trucks, new cars, wagons you name it. 3)The cruising is awsome. 4) There is drag racing.  These are very different kinds of shows. I love both of them for different reasons.

We have been going to the Nats for about 8 years or so. I haven't went out on Thursday. We travel out on Thur, then stay for the Fri and Sat then leave Sun morning.  The show is pretty dead Sunday. Racing at the track and burnout competition is fun to watch. The traffic getting in and out of the nats is easier than Carlisle. The cruising on Friday and Satuday night is fun to watch. I like the swap meet setup. PArts and vendors are more consolidated than in Carlisle.  :2cents:

I think that Carlisle has improved this issue with the pre registration now available . . . drive right in!   :bananasmi

Hey Schtick....

So can people claim parking spots like in Carlise with pop up tents? IE leave their frames overnight for the next day? Talking about the "fun" field.

I would like to go but have a wedding in Canada that weekend right by where the Moparfest is held.  Of course it is the weekend before that show . . .  :hyper:

Anyone know where they cruise at, in Columbus? It use to be brice road, cops shut it down... then it went to heath, cops have shut that down as well.. Any other spots where people cruise and do burnouts on fri or sat night?

We are thinking about going to the Nats also this year for the first time. Question is it worth a 12 hour drive to be there for just Saturday, we would actually get their late Friday afternoon but not really much time to go to the show, then leave Sunday morning to drive back. Would love to go to Carlisle but that is a 17 hour drive.

Also what is a good camp ground to stay at that is close?

I have a similar conundrum with CARLISLE this year......and I am only 3.5 hours away....LOL

I was considering same as you.....arrive late friday, stay the night, have saturday, stay the night, go home sunday.....but I know me and how I want to see EVERYTHING.....I think for one day, and given the expense etc it wouldnt be worth it. And thats just for me for 3.5 hrs each way. LOL

For YOU, at 12 hrs each way?  Oh hellz no.  LOL
