Torsion bar adjusting without the engine
« on: January 24, 2018 - 11:14:56 PM »
Hello, i just replaced most of my front suspension and my 72 is ready to head off to paint. Before it goes I was going to try and get my front suspension as close to finished as possible. The entire car is stripped, interior, engine, transmission, I’m assuming this makes a difference when setting the torsion bar adjusting screws? Do I need to wait until the engine is in before I start measuring ride height and adjusting stuff?

Most good alignments will account for the driver weight in the seat, it matters. Trying to dial in anything on the front end without the engine in is quite useless, in my opinion.  :2cents:

Awesome. Thanks for the help. One more newbie question. Did all 72 challengers come with a front sway bar? When I disassembled mine it didn’t have one. Didn’t know if this was optional or someone took it off prior.

I am not 100% positive but I do not believe so, I think the "low end" cars (318) didn't or they were optional. I have a 73 Barracuda (318 AT) which didn't have one.

Someone would know more than me, but my 1972 318 Barracuda [not 'Cuda] came with a front sway bar.
