Pic Request: Exhaust hanger plate in trunk on 70 Cuda
« on: January 28, 2018 - 02:07:21 PM »
Does anyone have the stock style exhaust hangers that has the mounting plates on the inside of the trunk floor on a 70 Cuda that you could provide pics of?  I'd appreciate it.

Its the plate in the trunk that I'm looking for a pic of.

I have a 1973 Cuda that I installed a dual exhaust including a TTI exhaust and welded tips.  I had a new trunk floor and needed to place those plates/stud through the floor.  It definitely seemed odd to me but it is stock.  70chall440 provided me with this schematic for measurements.  I can send you pictures of the installed hangers if needed. I hope that this helps.

Thanks redo1973.  Im in the exact same situation.  Im about to install the TTI system with the TTI welded tips on my 70 Cuda.  My trunk pan has also been replaced so I dont  have the stock hanger provisions in the trunk either.  And would love pics if you don't mind.

Id like to talk to you about how your install went too if you don't mind.....Ill PM you my number......if willing to call, call anytime......and Ill include my email address so you can send the pics if you would please......thanks....jeff

7dcuda, here are some more pictures for you. As we talked you seem to have a solid approach.  A few comments to consider from my project:

I put in a full 2.5 inch TTI system from stock manifolds on a 340 including an H pipe and the band connectors.
- Definitely start from the rear, remember to tape the valance
- The system fit perfectly but because of that adjusting was tougher so keep the bands loose
- I cut the rubber on the tip hanger so that I could move it back and forth, I also had to put in a spacer on the passenger side
- You'll notice that I put in a bracket to spread the rear valance to get a proper spacing on the tips.
- My tips extend about an inch from the valance
- The driver side rear rubber brake line is very close to the pipe going over the axle
- My pipes were also close to the drive shaft but that was because of adjustments on the manifolds and the H pipe was too collapsed so I spread it.

I hope that this helps.  I'd love to see pictures of your project.

Thanks redo1973...I appreciate all the tips and the pics.  My buddy that has the lift has a couple projects that's gonna have his lift tied up for a little while so not exactly sure when Ill get to do the install....but I'm anxious to.....doing my homework ahead of time since my car doesn't currently have the stock hangar provisions which the TTI system utilizes.  I'm hoping that going from my current 2 1/4" tubing to the 2 1/2" tubing and adding the X pipe will add a few HP.  Your info and pics have been a great help and again I appreciate it!!

You're welcome.  Are you still looking for pictures of the stock rear seat panel with the stock single exhaust hanger?

No, I think I'm good there.....thanks though.  I pulled the back seat yesterday and saw that the floor pan DOES have dimples that match where the holes need to be drilled for the stud plate that's used for mounting the hanger bracket on the drivers side.
