I have a 70 Challenger project that is close to completion. The car runs and seems to produce okay performance but not great. From my past experience it should be better. No smoke issues and idles fine.
It is a '67 Stock 440 HP block, OEM pistons but with 915 heads added, that I believe were cleaned up, but not modified. I am using a new Edelbrock Street Performer double pumper 750.
Cam is questionable, so I am planning to replace/improve the top end of the motor by installing a new cam (mild). Which one is the most desirable and reliable for street use these days?? Mopar Performance Purple was my first choice, but from reading threads may be older technology (as per Chryco). Advise needed ...... which make/model??
Should I have the heads re-worked with different size valves, springs, ported, etc or just replace with Stainless and hardened valve seals for today's fuel?? Push rods were replaced with new for the 915 heads.
Any advise to produce more HP and retain reliability would be appreciated. Not looking to produce a racer, just a little hotter than stock for street use.
Thanks in advance ...... CHAPS
