Slapstick Spring replacement
« on: February 28, 2018 - 08:29:32 PM »
I have a 1973 floor shift slapstick.  The button functions but the recovery from depressing is very weak and it does not seem to lock into drive.  I believe that I've seen a replacement spring but I have no idea how to remove the old one.  Has anyone done this or is it best to simply buy a replacement?

There is a small Allen screw on the side of the shifter knob. Unscrew the set screw carefully until the knob loosens enough to be unscrewed fron the rod in the shifter. As you remove the knob, the button will come loose and the spring will be revealed.  If it’s weak, stretch a little bit, if broken , just order you a complete knob from Dave at Roseville.  Good luck.
