Distributor "curving" alternative

So for years now I have put off considering playing with my distributor as far as the spring setup therein....its a stock distributor.

I have a cam ...a fairly lump one....and no doubt I would benefit from some degree of curving it....

On the slant 6 forum someone is selling packs of mopar springs -- 3 pairs ...for $27.

Of course that means a lot of trial and error and patience and testing.....and potentially a lot of distributor in/outing. LOL

Pricey, but has infinite adjustability....and useful for future builds maybe....

Oddly it seems to be available ONLY for 340s and 360s...not 318s....and of course I have a 318.

I thought the 318 and 360 distributors were the same ?   Anyone have any experience with these?

while I would agree that it is temping, I think you might be over thinking this to a degree. There is enough information out there (and on here) that you should be able to narrow down what you need and only have to play with it a little. That said, this new distributor would be very easy but putting in springs is not all that hard. I agree, $460 is a lot for most likely a modicum of gain.

Reading thru the instructions, it still suggest replacing the springs.....     I have to imagine there is trial an error in that regard, no?     All it says the plate does is "correct the mechanical limits in your distributor ".......     

I guess I am just restless....REALLY want a stroker engine and just cant do it right now....

Looking to do something to the 318 I have that might give her more punch down low and mid range....top end it runs good...no pinging, pulls hard (for a 318) etc.....dont want to open up a can of worms I guess...figured that adjustable deal would let me more easily try different settings.....rather than play with springs and where the plate is set at etc....

Needing to change the springs won't be as much a priority.

I left the originals and it's running very well.
