Sway bar questions
« on: March 14, 2018 - 09:06:54 PM »
Hey gang, I’m thinking about adding some sway bars to the Cuda.  I will eventually do front and rear, but which one would make the most difference on its own?  I’m looking at hellwig or cpp don’t want to spend a ton but have something there.  Any input would be helpful.  Are all lca’s built for sway bars?

I'm not the guy to really answer some of your questions, but for what it's worth, the front is more important than the rear and no, not all LCA's are set up for sway bars. As for the choice, I have no knowledge of them and can't say. Hope this helps even a wee bit.

I'm running the Hellwig 55904 Tubular Front Sway Bar and the Hellwig 6908 Rear Adjustable Sway Bar...

Not as nice as the Hotchkis stuff but for a $500 savings I'm okay with that....  They do the job very well....

Definitely front first, if you put a rear on without a front the car will be evil handling....

Look at FIRM FEEL as they also have the required LCA "tabs" for the front bar.    FF's rear bar is the same as the factory OE... mounts above the differential to the frame.

I've played with different suspension set-ups for my autocross Challenger... currently have 1.25" front sway bare and a 1.0" rear factory-shaped sway bar.   Both were custom-made by professional SCCA TransAm racers for me many years ago.
Autocross/road racers go in deeper... and come out harder!

Is the only difference in the tubular and solid just the weight savings with tubular or does one work better than the other ?
I know in racing you try to find 16 places to save an once easier than 1 place to save a lb.

Weight savings is the primary benefit to tubular. They both can perform equally well for the long haul.
