Looking for build sheet in car, 70 LA built V code cuda
« on: March 26, 2018 - 03:33:30 AM »
I have a 70 V code Cuda built in LA, it was Manufactured 12-69. Where are the common places where the build sheet are put into the car at the factory. I bought the car 30 years ago, and it has been sitting in the garage for a long time. I have never torn it apart. The carpet was gone when I got it, so if it was under the carpet it is gone. It has the original fender tag so I know the options, the build sheet would be a nice piece to have.

Under the front bucket seats in the springs
Inside the bucket seat backs
Under the rear seat bottom
In the rear seat back
Under the package tray (speaker shelf)

Ted is right......... The LA assy. line had adopted an anti-trash policy. Build sheets were generally trashed. My ‘70 Challenger was built in LA on the very first day of regular production Aug. 18, ‘69. so I never found one. Every now and then someone will say “mine came out of LA with a build sheet.
Some do squeak by, not all can be trashed. If your car was found with one, well consider yourself lucky.

Does anyone have any idea how many Challengers were built per day in LA? I realize that this isnt really a known number but I am wondering if anyone has done the math. How do you tell an early car from a late car or perhaps better said, when did production begin and end for the 70 model year. I keep seeing/hearing people say "oh thats an early car" or "thats a late car" and am wondering how someone would know that (I know it has to so with the sequence numbers, but whats the deal there)?
