Dirk - a few questions

1. Where did this harness come from? As in did the harness come with the car or did you source it from someplace else?
2. can you remove the corrugated sheathing so I can see all the wires?

The problem is that as I look at the picture and the diagram, they are not aligning (which I think you know). Either this harness is from something else of the period or someone has been in here changing wires. By the diagram the wire coming out of that spot should be a dark blue wire and go to the wiper motor.

The harness came with the car I don't think its been tampered with. The 3 speed wiper motor plugs in to the bulk head by itself. I will remove the wrapping to show it better. I was thinking that when I put the new solenoid on that it was connected there but I'm not sure. I have a few more that I'm not sure of also. There are no Cudas around my area that I can look at  I will post another Pic Thanks

70 chall440 hers a pic of the wire with the wrapping off When I put a new solenoid on it didn't have the post for a ground wire which the old one did. But it was a push on this one has an eyelet. There is a Green wire that comes from the clutch safety switch but nowhere to connect to the solenoid. This thing has been one nightmare after another. The tan wire is the right length to reach the solenoid. But I not sure Thanks for the help

Dirk - it has taken awhile but I think I know what that wire is for, it should be a grey wire but it is for the tach. The picture you posted is pretty blurry but I went out and looked at my 70 Challenger and then I back tracked the wiring diagrams. This would explain why it has a ring terminal on it, goes to the negative side of the coil.

I dont know why the diagrams are so confusing and at times incorrect but they are; therefore it takes some investigative work to figure it out. Do you have a rallye dash? If so, if you can get to the tach, there should be 2 wires, one of them is supposed to be a dark blue wire and the other a grey wire, but in you case it seems its tan but might be grey inside.

No problem.

The dark green is for the"manual transmission clutch switch" and goes to the G terminal on the relay (straight up and down one, not the slanted one).

it "appears" that the black one goes to one side of your back up switch on your trans.

70chall440 I'm back again. There is another long green wire that comes from the clutch switch it comes out just under the windshield washer grommet I pretty sure it went to the relay. But I put a new relay on an it don't have the ground post on it so can it be grounded to the bolt or inner fender. So that being said where do u think the short green one should go its a female push pin I don't have a male one any where that I can see Thanks Dirk

Yeah I am going to need some pictures here.

That said, and in reference to your last question (assuming I understand what you are asking); there should be a wire coming from your clutch switch with the corresponding connector (male Packard 56).

Yes 70 chall440 its a 70  4 spd. Hers a pic of the long green wire that comes from the clutch switch. Along side of the master cylinder u can see the short green one I know the long one from the switch went to the ground terminal but the new relay don't have that terminal I wonder if ican ghange the end to an eyelet and grd it on the bolt that holds the relay on Thanks Dirk
