Installing Rear Bumper
« on: June 25, 2018 - 12:57:23 PM »
Is it best to remove the rear valance when installing the rear bumper. Everything is painted now and I don't want to remove it if I don't have to Thanks Dirk

No, you can install the bumper with the rear valance in place. I highly recommend using lots of tape around the valance.

yes, bolt the brackets onto the bumper as well any guards you may have, then bolt the whole thing to the car. Its best done with 2-3 people especially with the rear valance in place.

I should add, you might want to leave the brackets a little loose to get it aligned. Getting to the bumper bolts once on the car can be a challenger but it can be done with some creativity.

Yeah, you can struggle with bolting on the bumper with the valance attached.... Or you can remove a few bolts & make the job much easier...  The valance should come off & go right back where it belongs... The work to make it fit should have been done before the car was painted & it probably wasn't bolted to the car when the car was sprayed...
