Instrument Cluster Bezel
« on: August 09, 2018 - 09:17:45 AM »
I got all 6 screws out of the bezel,i got the steering wheel dropped and the light switch an heater control out. The problem is the bezel seems tight around the upper part of the speedo. Im doing everything the maual says but cant get it out. Its a 70 Cuda with the ralley dash I also got the speedo gable undone. The only thing I cant find is the radio wires that it says to unhook. I think that is the switch for the back speakers which I don't have .Any ideas what im doing wrong Thanks Dirk

So, is the cluster loose? It sounds like some of your wiring is hanging up, most likely the 2 wires running to your amp gauge. There are some "looms" built into the dash frame and if someone (or the factory) stuffed the wiring into them and you haven't released them, you will not get much movement.

The bezel is loose I cant get it off to get at the cluster . My wires for my light panel got tuck up inside when the body shop put the new dash pad on . So I have to get at the gauge cluster to get the wires. It seems like there is something holding it from behind right behind the speedo. I don't want to pry on it to much an break it. Im pretty sure only the 6 screws hold the bezel in. Im doing it according to the manual Thanks

This is just the instrument cluster right? You have the outer bezel removed?

You said that the speedo cable is detached, however Id say to check it again. Unfortunately you are going have to crawl under there and see what is hanging it up. The 6 screws are usually the only thing holding it on, so whatever is holding it on isn't designed to do so.

I got it out there are 2 plastic pegs on the back the one buy the speedo had to be pryed out with a screwdriver. Now I have to remove the cluster and fish the 3 bulbs out for the light panel. I hope I don't have to disconnect the cluster wiring to get to them Thanks Dirk

Are you talking about the 3 bulbs in the front (turn signals and parking brake)? If so, they are inserted from the rear.

In the light bar in front of the cluster? If so, they pull out of their respective housings.
