Battery draining issues
« on: October 01, 2018 - 04:13:06 PM »
Have any of you guys had issues with constant draws on your battery that literally reduce the battery power to under 10v in 2 days or bring it down to 5v in a week? I even put a tender on my brand new yellow top Optima and the damn thing did not have enough juice to start in two days. Never had this issue with my 440 but now with the 6.4 and the computer, it seems as there is a consistent draw on my battery. I am having to disconnect the negative to get a good charge on the battery. Of course, I have my builder troubling shooting the problem to see if there is an unknown draw but was wondering if any of you had the same issue?

Thx
Daryl

Yes I have had it but don't know how to correct it. On all my cars I run a remotely activated battery disconnect just for this reason. Hopefully your builder can find the issue.

I recently had this problem after I rebuilt the motor and changed the alternator to a big one.  So it was the exicited wire to the alternator was a full time hot line.  Changed to a ignition on wire and it quit.  Could also be a amp for the stereo always on possibly.
