Turn signal not working on one side
« on: October 08, 2018 - 03:34:52 PM »
So I replaced the turn signal switch in the column. I was thinking the problem with the signal was that the lever would not hold on that side. So I replaced the switch and it didn't fix the problem. The Hazard flashers work just fine. Signal on the driver side works fine. But passenger side is just dead. I was thinking it was a ground issue. What are your thoughts.

If I understand you correctly, they flash with emergency flashers on? If so, it has to be something in the column or the actual turn signal and its associated wiring.

Then I would think it would need to be down at the Signal because with the recent parts I haven no replaced the entire turn signal wiring in the column. I am kind of wondering if it's a ground do the signals have a ground wire or do they ground at the light? The car does seem to have grounding problems. The marker lamps don't seem to have a ground either.

What year/car are we discussing here? There is definitely a ground in the system, typically at the lights.

You are welcome. Not to sound "preachy" but wiring isn't that hard, its just frustrating and requires a methodical approach. There is generally a start and end point and wires are either hot or ground. Just determine which wire you want to trace and develop a method of test it. Fortunately a lot of electrical test equipment is now available and cheap on places like Amazon. The best piece of equipment you can get is a Power Probe, it will make life much easier.
