Seeking cowl measurement.
« on: November 10, 2018 - 01:51:11 PM »
Hey guys. Both of my inner fender Wells were detached from the cowl when I got it. Replacing the brackets there now.

Can someone provide me the measurement between the upper hole of the inner fender to cowl brackets?

I need the measurement between the hole I'm pointing at here, to the same hole on the opposite side. Thank you!!

I took measurements before and after replacing the inner fenders and cowl on my Barracuda.

The measurement between the oval cutouts on the inner fenders, center-to-center, is 50-3/16".

Hope that helps!

I had a similar situation.  I chose to reassemble the front clip including the hood to consider pressure from the hinges and ensure I had reasonable gaps and alignments.  I then crawled under into the engine bay and marked where the inner fenders aligned to the cowel.  I'm new at this and it was my inexpereienced approach.

When I redid mine, I took measurements but found it wasn’t all that necessary as everything fell into place. When you seat the new inner panels against the shock towers and clamp the radiator support pieces in, the back edge falls where it wants to be. When I measured it, it turned out exactly like the old ones prior to removal. Then I held the brackets to the cowl and marked the positions.

Even if you were off 1/4”, there is so much room to move the fenders around that I think you’d have no trouble getting everything lined up well afterwards. If you really wanted to be extra cautious, you could spot the inner panels to the shock towers, clamp up the front radiator support pieces, set the fenders on with a couple bolts, then measure the opening and compare to your hood.
