Side view mirror question.
« on: July 13, 2005 - 08:19:02 AM »
I know that I have the correct 70 mirror on the driver side of my 70 challenger (small base).   But the pass. side has the long base and the mirror is a different shape.  Are the bases interchangeable or do I need to be looking for the whole mirror with a short base.   One mirror looks more pointy than the other.  Both are chrome.   Dr V

I'm not sure on the bases but there is suppose to be a difference in shape.
When I took mine off I noticed it too, hard to tell when there on there though huh.  :eeksmall:

Dr.V,
Sounds like you have the right mirror on the wrong base. Yes, they are interchangeable.

Cool, If the mirrors themselves are a little different I should be fine,  all that I have to do is swap bases for a shorter one.   Thanks guys.

Yeah, in 70 the passenger's side mirror was a different shape than the driver's. More elongated.

Yip, can you think of a reason why though?   :???:

The most logical would be for better viewing but why the outside difference and not the glass area?  :dontknow:
