I started this thread just so that I was not hijacking CindyCuda68's thread about a bodies. 

The car is just a basic /6 yellow 67 auto.  Nothing special aside from wearing the Barracuda badge.

My best friend bought this years and years ago.  He had some health issues, Rotator cuff blown out and operated on two times and he now can't sit in a modern passenger car as a rider for more than 45 minutes. so I purchased his car maybe 8 or 9 years ago. 

When I received it the motor was a 383 that was hopped up and running Ethanol. My friend Dan was making his Ethanol as well as using the gas stores ethanol.  The main issue that he had with the Ethanol was that the octane rating varied by 25% consistently.  Making the car very difficult to tune on Ethanol.  However the Ethanol that he made was always a pretty high octane level.  I don't have Ethanol up where i live a few hours from him.  I drove it a few times and eventually blew it up. 

Now I've replaced the 1970 super bee 383 with a 74 truck 400.   Nothing special again.  just cleaned it up and fixed some bearings and such.

Trans is a TCI auto.  Dont' recall stall off the top of my head.   Rear is a 7 1/4 with 4:11's. 



There was one Superbird that was commissioned by a highway patrol police department in 70.  The car was used for one year then parked in a storage lot.   The cop who drove it parked it in the lot of which I believe was his wifes storage lot.  They divorced and she swore no one would ever get that car.  Apparently someone ended up with the wing in Arizona.  Put it on a super bee and my best friend bought the Super bee back in the early eighties when he was down there in Mechanics school. 
  I helped him strip the wing and verify colors.  Then I helped him put it on his car.  Of which I now own. 

  I'm always looking for more info on the black bird.  I have a picture of two I'll see if I can find it.

  With it's appetite for gas we fit a 42 gallon gas tank in it so it can be driven between our two homes.  My friend Dan's and my house/garage where we used to fix all kinds of cars.   
  It's cool to be able to drive 100 miles and not need to get gas.

throw some EFI on there and you might be able to go 150..

That's really what I am thinking.  It sure would be nice to have it work great here at 7000 feet, go up to my passes that I run at 10,500 feet and then run down to Colorado Springs at 6000 and have it work right the whole time with no tuning issues.

It takes 42 gallons of gas to go 100 miles??!!!! Jesus, that's not even 3 miles to the gallon and if it's for a round trip it's not 5 mpg. I read about the 4:11's, but that's still an amazing lack of mileage.

I don't use all of it.  I don't like getting into the last quarter of a tank if I don't have to.
