I have a 70 Barracuda and I need help with some engine compartment measurements. The firewall, inner fenders, upper 26” radiator support and both fenders were all recently replaced at the same time. Everything is back together and I am working on lining everything up (doors, fenders, front end and hood). I have come to realize it should have been done piece by piece and suspect I may have lost the proper alignment of the engine compartment.
Everything was replaced with AMD products and I suspect some of the parts are slightly off OEM specifications. The big fitment problem is the driver’s side fender. I can get it close, but it needs a lot of spacers between the fender and inner fender. Additionally, I noticed the driver’s side inner fender has a dip in the middle across the top which could be part of the problem.
I realize it’s late in the process, but I want to double check these parts to make sure their measurements are correct. I have the factory specs for the frame and those measurements are OK.
So here are my questions:
1. Are there any factory specifications and/or measurements for the proper fitment or alignment of these parts?
2. If not, does anyone have any measurements for the location of the inner fenders and radiator support?
3. If the car is level, should the top of the inner fenders be level or angle down slightly?
I appreciate any help!
Thanks, Jim
