No opinions out there on resale value? Anyone think I can get $10k out of it? I am gonna go ahead and create a new thread in the what's it worth section.

I hate to say this but it is very hard to value at this point. I suspect that most don't want to piss you off with a low ball number. In reference to your question, I think it is probably worth $10K to the right person, the challenge is finding that person. The fear most will have is whether or not there is any damage to the drive train, the body damage is evident for the most part and if the drive train survived undamaged it would be a deal as there is more than $10K worth of parts there for sure, however if the drive train is wounded it changes the equation to a potential buyer. I am not saying it isn't worth it, just that the feeling for a buyer is that they are getting used parts and as such there is always an air of mystery and a gamble.

Not all trying to get you to lower your price, just putting this out there. Key here is finding the right person who needs what you have, has money available to buy it and time available (or anticipated) to devote to it (whether repairing or parting out). If there was someone who has a relatively clean project car, this would be an awesome swap and they would be money ahead not to mention selling off any parts they are not going to use.

I hear ya. Although no one needs to worry about pissing me off with a low #, I am trying to decide if it is worth buying it for salvage value. The Copart auction came in with a high bid of $6700 so that is the salvage value I can keep it for. I am not trying to be greedy and make a bunch of extra money but it has to be worth my while to sell it myself. I mainly want to have some "control" over where it goes so it will hopefully live again. I feel pretty certain I can get the $6700 out of it so I don't think it will be a losing proposition.

I agree with all that.

But my thought would be to take the list of paid for parts, remove 60% of the price.  Add 2500 on for the additional car parts.
But I'm looking at it in the idea of taking the parts and putting them on a car that needs those parts.

To purchase it to rebuild it as a runner again, I'd have to say it would need to be a deal. for me.

I would think you could get $6700 back out of it in one way or another, though, I'm not sure how much more.

A lot of those replaced parts have little second-hand value, while some are decent ticket items. In the end, I think I'd go straight for the partout with the intention of scrapping the chassis. I think it's too far gone being a 72+ car, but that's just me. 70/71 and someone might get in there and try to fix it.

And then there's the money issue. There's a whole slew of Canadians who might take a flyer at it, but with our currency in the toilet; $6700 is within $25 of being $9000 Canadian and that'll probably eliminate a large portion of those potential buyers, sad to say! Bummer!  :sadwavey:

Well of course after committing to keep the car for salvage value, I'm seeing low sales on eBay, not real promising responses here so I start questioning my decision.  Then it seems the adjuster with Hagerty didnt know all the laws for salvage titles and all cor Georgia so there was more paperwork needed to finalize and get a check. So I ended up getting a 2nd chance to make the decision and I took the opportunity to change my mind and turn the car over to them. I will put my name and number in there so the new owner can contact me for any history, receipts and documents. Its a hard decision to make but I tried to take out the emotion and look at it realistically. Plus I found that if someone wants to purchase it to repair they have to be registered in Ga as a car dealer to be able to apply for a rebuilt title with all receipts in either their name or the shop who did work. So that will limit potential buyers even more. Sadly I am afraid it has met its end. Unless someone decides to back half it and make a drag car.
Hopefully I will be all moved in a few months and I will revisit where to go from here, maybe a newer Challenger, maybe a closer to done Cuda that I can get to driving sooner. We shall see but there will be another Mopar of some nature there soon. For now I broke my dirt bike out of storage to help me through the grieving process.

As painful and emotional as it is, its just a car in the end. You've made the right choice for you and that is what is important. As enthusiasts we would all love to see you "dive right in and repair it", but it isn't our car, time or money so it isn't our decision. Likewise, we would all rather see it fixed than parted but again, not our call. I think that it would be a good bet that many of us on here have done something somewhat similar at one time or another, sold a car we had way too much money in for a lot less, wrecked a car that we had labored over, parted out someone else's "pride and joy" after they had wrecked it or blown it up, etc.

In other words, it is what it is and life continues. As was stated in the very beginning, you walked away and live on to drive again and thats what IS important.

If it were me at this point in time, I'd buy a new Challenger Scat Pack and call it a day. In fact, I have thought about doing exactly that a lot more frequently than ever before (sell off all of my "vintage" cars and get another newer one). I have a 2010 PCP Challenger RT 6 spd which I absolutely love, but a Scat Pack car or perhaps even a used Hellcat would be awesome. I cannot bring myself to do it just yet but... If I were in your position, I have no doubts what I would do.. Just saw a matte green 2016 TA for sale... hmmmm

I know what your saying. I feel I probably made the right decision. I was looking earlier at the Redeye Hellcat Widebody in Go Mango earlier, drool. Just a little to pricey I'm afraid. I also love the new Black Eye color.

Very true words.
They have all but erased the reason to have an old muscle car by having new ones that rival anything the old ones had and also provide comfort.
Removing the warning labels one at a time.
Nature will take care of the rest.

As great as this is, it is also hard for the older people who grew up with these cars to get our head around. I have struggled for some time about my own collection and whether to hang onto it (for the nostalgia of it) or to liquidate it all knowing that I most likely will never have another one and get another more modern car. We could discuss this for hours, even days but in the end we each have to make the decision that is best for us individually. For me personally, I love the old cars and have very fond memories of my youth when look at them, sit in them and occasionally drive them. On the other hand, I absolutely love my 2010 RT and smile every time I drive it. It too brings back the memories, just in a different way.

In all realty, I will most likely keep mine just because they are a part of me, however if the right person with a bag of cash showed up....

Actually I already decided the same thing. Found out that if someone wanted to purchase it to rebuild they have to be a licensed dealer. That automatically limited the number of people who could buy it for that purpose. I didnt want to end up having to part it out and go through the emotional rollercoaster over a few years while I got rid of it. I put a bunch of old/extra parts in the car and a note for the new owner with my phone # so they can get all of the paperwork I have and history info. I have made my best attempt at keeping 1 more of our beloved Cudas on the road. I hate that we probably lost one more, and that I was the caretaker at the time. Oh well that's life right. Copart picked it up this past monday. Once I get moved I will decide what I am gonna replace it with.
