Console Install

Im about to put my console in my 70 cuda. does the boot and the trim ring go under the carpet or on top. Its a 4spd console. Ive got it on top but it don't look right to me just wanted to be sure. Thanks

The boot itself is under the carpet, the chrome trim ring is on top of the carpet. If you look at the boot and the trim ring you will see that the screws for each are offset.

That's the way I gotit,so now do I pull the boot up around the shifter opening. when I set the console in I can see down in there and the chrome can be seen on the drivers side

yes, you will see the chrome ring with the console in place. should look like this
