Headligts 70 Cuda
« on: April 09, 2019 - 02:12:27 PM »
Ok so the other day iwas going to take the cuda out for its first run. Before I left I did a check of everything, lights, heat gauge. well my headlights did woek but now they don't. I got know headlights or side marker lights. I pulled the dimmer switch and what I found was I have power coming in from the light switch but also power on each side of the plug. I think it should only on one side or the other depending on which its on high or low beam. I checked the grounds cleaned all them still nothing. I got power at the box on the frewall. So then I unplugged the marker light on the left side an tested with test light I got just a faint light. It seem to be a ground but I don't know where to go from here. Like I said everthing was working fine before. The signal ,parking they still wok just headlights and markers Any ideas what it could be Thanks

If everything was working before and now it doesn't, it leaves you with 2 options

1. everything burned out - you tested at least one of them and it lite up so that isn't the case

2. a connection/s lost connectivity - you need to trace everything and examine the connections, however my first top would be the connection at the bulkhead inside the engine compartment (should be a block of 4 wires on one corner of the bulk head).

Do you have a power probe? If not, I highly recommend getting one, it will make testing many times easier than without.

I went back out an checked it at the bulkhead There is a pink and red wire that come out of the bulkhead that go threw the harness to the headlights. I only got a faint light at the bulkhead and faint light at the pink connection at the headlight. Down at the dimmer switch on the floor I got good power coming in from the headlight switch in the dash but both the other trminals have faint power. I think there should be good power at one or the other one for high and one for low beams. What do u think

Faint lights mean bad connections and/or poor grounds.

The dimmer switch deal means the connector is probably reversed.
