Trunk Floor Paint
« on: June 11, 2019 - 11:36:10 AM »
I had my trunk floor replaced. It is currently primed and the cause of the water leaks has been repaired. Is it better to paint the floor the same color as the car or use a textured paint like they use for truck beds?   Thanks

Originally they were body color. I always paint them that way.

Mike's right in that they were body colour, but I painted my black car's trunk black- and then Roxo Toned it in two tone grey from a rattle can from Eastwoods I believe. It doesn't show every scuff/scrape and can also somewhat hide a less than perfect surface as well and appears period correct. Your car- your call.

The cuda I bought had the gray spatter paint. Im guessing that was an option or someone may have painted it afterwards

Someone must have painted it, that was a Chevy and/or Ford thing, Mopar always painted the trunks (and engine compartment) body color as far as I know. I have seen many that were painted that gray "specked" finish, but they were all done but an owner and didn't come that way. Mopar's answer was a grey specked mat (that trapped moisture under it and cause the trunk floor to rust out).
