Looking for my dads 74 cuda in Ohio
« on: July 11, 2019 - 05:13:45 PM »
I've been looking for awhile and I'm not having no luck. I thought maybe there was some members on here that could help. It was my dads car that he either bought new or close to it. It was a 74 model and the tag should come back as a 318 3 speed car. My dad had pulled the orignal motor and transmission and installed a 340 he built along with a 4 speed. It was ralleye red with black interior. It even had a 8 track player in it. It was sold to a guy around 1990 then he had it for a few years and sold it again. I remember seeing the guy who bought it as he came to house and got the orignal motor and transmission, I figure he was in his 60's in the mid to late 90's. Sorry I dont have the vin. I've tried every way I can think of to get the vin. My dad passed away in 08 and the guy he sold it to passed away about 4 years ago. He was a partier so he couldn't never remember the guys name he sold it to. It was suppose to be around the chillicothe ohio area. I got a picture but it wont let me download for some reason.  It's all red with a white stripe the full length of the car.

Going to be hard to find w/o a VIN. Can you take a picture of the picture with your phone and email it to yourself? Pm me an email address and I will email you, if you send me the pic I will make it smaller for you.

I got probably my best lead of all yesterday but I'm having a hard time finding the contacts for the names I got. So if anybody here is a member or knows someone on the southern ohio ford club could they contact me please. I don't want to post names on the internet.

Have you tried contacting the Ohio DMV and asking if they can give you the VIN? I know in ND years ago they would if you had a name, back in the day they would even give you a name if you had a license plate number but they stopped that part.

I tried a couple weeks ago when I got the ohio title for my 74 cuda. The nice women looked for the vin from the last known owner that i knew but it didnt show up. I didnt think to ask about looking it up in my dads name. I dont think the computer system goes back that far. The lead I got yesterday was he bought a chevelle off the guy who bought the cuda off my dad. I got a name but isnt coming up on where there telling me he lives. I contacted a guy with the same name in a different town but havent got a response.

You might be surprised at how far back DMV records go. I hope you find it.
