numbers matching
« on: September 12, 2019 - 12:49:03 PM »
Long time member - seldom user.  I think I found a "numbers matching" 71 340 Challenger but would like some input from you people.  I've read that the numbers pad on the trans (auto) should not be smooth but have ridges as it was roughly milled.  What else should I look for??  Is there a certain font used??  What about numbers in the rear end and the block?
I know about the cowl, trunk and rad numbers but not sure about the items above.
Any help would be appreciated.

I cannot speak to the font but both the engine and trans ID pads are machined flat areas, as to the edges being rough I think this is a bit subjective. I will say that the numbers/letters should be in a line and not looked like they were individually hand stamped.
