HT 8, MAYBE NOT
« on: April 10, 2020 - 09:05:59 PM »
Hi,new here just finding my way around the site.Been 30 yrs since I've looked at my car (sorry no pics)as of yet. But I pulled the covers off yesterday and took the fender tag to do some decoding. Originally the car was a light brown/ cinnamon color, under hood , under wheelwells. The car had recieved a paint job yrs ago, and was a sort of chocolate brown/ white vinyl roof combo when I bought it. The tag is HT8,the car is HT8, but from what is original(hidden) I would say HT6 along with my paint guy, rest of the tag fits to a T, mopar line snaffu?

How about a list of what's on the fender tag.  would love to decode it and give you an opinion.

Sounds like a cool car.  I'm lost though.  No H in the paint line.  Much less a T8 either.

Can you post a picture of the fender tag?

HT8 is called Chestnut Metallic
this is a 72-73 color.

Would you happen to have a few pictures of the original paint that was somewhere under stuff?

And it's probably not you, this site is by far the most difficult site on the net to post pictures on.  Look around and a few folks on here do explain how to resize and change and get the photos put on here.

B class vinyl black and white interior is a pretty cool option.  The later the years the less the XW appears.  I prefer the XW myself.

Cool car.
I'm a little surprised that with a white top, black and white interior that someone ordered the black horizontal stripes instead of the white ones.
Regardless, I bet this color with a white top was an absolutely stunning looker!

Anyone out there have a picture of a restored or original paint Chestnut metallic?

Are you planning on going back to the original color with the car?

Thanks for the speedy break down on my tag. HT8 not a mystery now?The chestnut color is what I had come up with, this is what the repaint years ago (I bought in '84 i guess) was. I did some searching online here today and "Maple Leaf Mopars"sight has a  Mopar of the month section, Sept 2006 is a 1970 TA and this is what is under my factory undercoating, ahead of my door hinges& on them. Spots where a paint guy wouldn't normally go. Even with that chestnut color it looked good but it will be going with the FT6 color, the chestnut doesn't make me smile!Rest of the car will be as fender tag sans 15"wheels, Rallyes

If the pic is over 500KB it won't load, also it has to be a .jpg, .gif or zip (wouldn't load a zip).
