engine and trans compatable?
« on: July 15, 2005 - 01:11:12 PM »
I am working on converting my '71 challenger from an auto to a manual.  I already bought a OD 833 trans.  I have found a complete EFI 360 engine out of a '01 dodge ram that was hooked to an automatic.  Here is my question- is this newer engine compatable with the 833, and will the 833 small block bell housing bolt up to it?
I remember reading about this engine swap to a chally a long time ago, but I recall that it was both the engine and auto trans from a newer ram.  Is this swap a major pain in the ass and not worth the trouble to make it all work?  Is there a better way to go about installing a fuel injection system on a 360 for better performance?

"should" be no problem , the belhousing is the same & you can use the DAkota roller pilot bushing
the electronics to make the EFI work could be complicated  :dontknow:

If you're not wanting the efi i'd just pull the intake and buy the M1 for that converts the magnums to the 4bbl.  and then you'll have to run a different dist. and coil...and just run your alt. through your voltage regulator...that would be the cheapest and easiest i think...
74 Plymouth Duster- restoring

77 Dodge D150 shortbox- as long as i don't change my mind will be a step side dually diesel or a 383 powered truck
