Challenger Spindle Help
« on: May 09, 2020 - 07:27:04 AM »
I am replacing front rotors and pads on my 73 Challenger. On the right front I noticed I had a hard time pulling the rotor off. After cleaning everything up I fitted the the new inner bearing on the spindle and it was very hard slipping over the wider back part.
For some reason the spindle appears to be slightly out-of-round at the widest part of the cone area, and I'm assuming its from heat and age.
The bearing will go on only if its indexed in a certain spot. I also tried the old bearing and its the same issue.
I tried a scotch bright pad and some emery cloth and had no results.

Besides replacing the spindle any suggestions to repair this on the car ??

Thanks  :2thumbs:

Well so long as the bearing will go on, technically you are good. You could try and do some filing but to be honest it is probably not worth it. Replacement is probably your best course of action. So, if you replace it you will need new ball joints as well, might be a good time for a front end rebuild across the board. If this isn't feasible (money, time, experience) then just do the one side and you should be good.
