THE BEST E-BODY SPEEDOMETER CABLE OR DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD USED ORIGINAL

Hi Guys; I just bought a new speedometer cable from Van's auto like the one in the link below. Cable is 62". The white plastic tab does not click into place and lock into the groove on the back of the speedo. Does anyone know who makes the best cable that will actually lock,or does anyone by chance have an original Mopar cable they are not using? Thanks,Dave

I bought the exact one in the link. It fit on my 73 cluster and clipped on. Maybe you ended up with a bad one.

When you say it will not "click in place", is the plastic tab not going down into the groove, meaning does it not bend down or is the edge of the tab/arm too big to fit into the groove? If you can look at it closely, you need to see if the arm is just sitting on top of the groove; it is possible that the arm is too fat and/or the groove on your speedo is too narrow. If either is the case, you can carefully shave down the end of the arm to get it to fit in there.

Thanks for the input.I could always hear a click when the tab on my old one would seat in the groove when I installed it. I did finally did get the new one to fit,but it does not give me that assured click sound that let's me know it's seated in the groove.

Do you guys use the graphite lube on the cable or leave it dry?  Thanks,Dave

Again, it has to do with the arm/clip that has to pop down into the grove of the speedo, if the new one has too fat of a arm, it will not "snap" down into the groove.

Normally run them dry although graphite will not hurt it.

When I buy new parts I tend to call Dave at Roseville moparts first before ordering from anyone else.  He knows his stuff and I have yet to get a part that didn't perform from him/them.  If you want the right stuff the first time, call them.

Pretty much most of the stuff I bought from Van's was good quality,but I did hear that Dave at Roseville was the go-to-guy for technical part fitment.  Thanks for your input.
