I read a thread on this website dated Sept 2015, about by passing the ammeter. There was link that described in detail how to do this.  The link went to the MAD website. In the article it says to put a 14 GA fusible link between the starter relay and the alternator and a 16 GA fusible link between the starter relay and the by pass of the ammeter. My question is, can I use a inline fuse instead of a fusible link. If so what is the recommended fuse size? Is fusible link safer?  Thanks

Yes you can use a fuse. Amperage would depend on alt output and your current draw. IE do you have elec fans, fuel pump, etc. The higher the draw the higher fuse rating to keep it from blowing. Also when you think about it, a fuse or link really does no good as you have 12v power coming from both directions. So a short will have power coming from the bat as well as the alt. This issue has been debated many times on this and other forums...
