1970 Elastomeric Bumper Paint Stripper?
My 1970 Elastomeric bumpers got a repaint in the 1980s and are in really bad condition with paint splitting and cracking crazing and some peel. I tried removing the paint carefully with a blade but its taking forever.
Is the a safe paint stripper I can use or alternate method to remove 2 coats of paint? Its quite brittle.

I don't know that I would put any paint stripper on them since they are essentially plastic themselves. There might be a stripper especially made for plastic/rubber. I think I would sand it off with something in a medium grit. Once you get close, got to a finer grit so you don't gouge the crap out of them.

I agree, stripper will probably turn your bumpers to goo.

We used to take a rubber hammer and using the flat face of same, give that confirmed brittle paint a few whacks, loosening some and knocking some of it clean off. Don't get carried away, more force doesn't directly convert to more paint coming off, but any gain is a good gain in that situation.
