Dealer emblem: Peters Dodge (Milwaukee WI)
« on: January 01, 2021 - 01:19:47 PM »
I'm looking for the chrome dealer emblem that Peters Dodge in Milwaukee, WI placed on cars they sold during the early 1970s. It isn't E-body or even model-specific but I need--OK, really want--one for my Challenger (which wasn't sold there--long story). Peters was apparently huge into performance Dodges during the era (they sold one of the few 1969 Daytonas that went to WI), with one user on another forum describing them as "...the Dodge hot rod palace of Milwaukee. Kind of the competitor to Gran Spaulding Dodge north of the Wisconsin border". According to him, during the heyday they had "at least" 100 performance Mopars on the lot on any given day.

Knowing that, this shouldn't be as difficult as it has been, but I can't even find a picture online of said emblem. I'm hoping someone in southern WI or northern IL has one on a parts car or knows of something in a junkyard. It's doubtful the design ever changed, and it was possibly still in use until they were bought out by Dodge City. Chrome dealer emblems didn't go away 'round these parts until the early '90s.

I'm located in MI's sunny Upper Peninsula, right on the WI border. I'm willing to pay more than it's likely worth, and would (potentially) eat a shoe for an NOS one.

I've tried a couple via phone.  Unfortunately, the places I find are standard junkyards.  If it's more than 15 or 20 years old, it goes to scrap.  Peters went away 30+ years ago.

I'm sure there are "know a guy" unofficial yards down that way, but I don't know a guy and it's 3.5 hours one way just to attempt to find a guy.  Where do I start?  The Chamber of Commerce?  "Hey, I'm not from this area.  I'm looking for old Mopar stuff, but I don't know a guy.  Do you know a guy?" (I'm not trying to be a jerk, just pictured the scenario and thought it funny).

Actually, now I'm thinking there's a someone locally who might know a guy... at least, he might know a guy that knows a guy.

In all seriousness, thank you for responding.  I wouldn't have even thought of him had the above scenario not played out in my mind.

Happy to help. Here's another idea, go on Craigslist local to that area and post an ad

I did that, but it's strange because even though I was posting on the Milwaukee CL, I put my location.  It seems to screw with the algorithm because it appears in searches of that site seemingly randomly... sometimes I find it, others not.  Best I can do is keep refreshing it to the top, I guess.

Are you doing this from a computer or something like an Ipad/tablet? I found that at least for Apple products there are CL apps that allow you to set the region/location you want to look at or post at. Online through a PC not so much.
