« on: February 23, 2021 - 03:38:22 PM »
Putting an after market rear valance on my 73 Challenger, is there a bracket between top of valance( there is a slot hole for a bolt) maybe into the inner bumper bracket hole, if so a picture would be great or were to get them. Trying to attach a pic. Thanks

There are 3 attaching points on each  side of the rear inner valance. There is another on the very top of valance ( behind the bumper) there is a support bracket attach to the valance with a slot for a bolt, it is between the rear spring hanger and the exhaust tip? Some body must have info on this. Thanks

I've been watching your post hoping that someone will shed some light for you. We just test fitted the rear valance on my '72 Challenger, and I am in the same boat as you. More questions than answers. I'm not even sure what all parts I still need in order to mount the valance and bumper.

I can see that the trunk floor drop downs have three tabs with holes that "somewhat" line up with the holes on the ends of the valance, so I guess that part is pretty self explanatory. However, the mounting hardware kit that I bought only comes with 4 studs and nuts? Seems like there should be more.

I do see two more holes on top of the valance about twelve inches in from either side. I "believe" you are referencing these in your post, as they are drilled into brackets that are attached to the back of the valance. I assume these are mounting holes, but like you, I don't understand what they attach to because they don't reach the cross rail. Is there another bracket that goes between the top edge of the valance and the cross rail? You mention an "inner bumper bracket", but I'm not sure I follow what that would be.

One last curiosity about the hardware kit that I bought is that it also comes with 4 self tapping metal screws. Any ideas what they would be for?

I’m not sure where you got your bolt kit or what it was called, but I just ordered a rear valence bolt kit for my car off of eBay. I received 8 total attachment hardware, 3 for each side and 2 for the middle hanger. Each attachement hardwares included a spring nut, a short all thread piece and a nut. I wanted to replace my odds and end bolts and nuts as it comes back from the painter.

Its been awhile since I dealt with a 72+ Challenger, however I can say that there should be 2 braces for the rear valance, they attach to the rear bumper support panel (the place where the bumper brackets attach). They are generally not a straight shot out but rather have some "shape" to them. Also there are bracket for the bumperettes that attach to the same bumper support panel and look like the letter "L".

If you have a factory service manual (FSM) they have drawings in there.

You can download one here, might not be a 72 but 72-74 would be the same.
