Resistors for LED turn bulbs
« on: March 09, 2021 - 10:17:14 AM »
I have the A01 light package, but I have removed the fender turn indicators.
So I have these perfectly good leads hanging inside the fenders.
Can I wire a resistor from that lead direct to ground, or does it need a bulb in the path?

There should not be anything "hanging down"

i will make sure that nothing is hanging down when I'm finished. But I'm referring to the lead that once went to my chrome fender top indicator, that has nothing to go to now, since I removed the indicators and welded up the hole. Can I wire a resistor from that lead direct to ground or will that create a dead short?

I don't see the reason to do that.
Why not just tape up the ends and zip tie them out of the way so they don't hang.

I agree, there is no reason to mess with them at all, in fact many factory harnesses have the pigtail for the fender signals and in cars without the actual signals the pigtail is just left alone.

The reason for the resistor is the LED bulbs need some resistance. Instruction call for cutting the harness and installing the resistors at the park lights. But I wonder if I can simply use this handy lead that now has no other use.
