Usually with a 440, the engine needs to be raised some to get the headers to clear enough to drop out. Also I normally remove the steering column as well.
I think I have convinced myself to pull the engine completely out now. I have done 90% of the work anyhow. I discovered my rear main seal is leaking and likely to get worse.
I removed both torsion bars, steering column, starter, and the steering box is loose, and I still can’t get the headers off the studs. I know I can probably pull the studs, but I’m worried that it will screw up the threads.
With the motor out, I can assure that the painter can reach all areas.
Thanks for your help.
