starting issues
« on: May 15, 2021 - 12:39:31 AM »
just picked up a 72 challenger, the first time i drove it and then shut it off it wouldnt start so i figured the starter needed a heat wrap. 2 days later i drove it and left it running for 5 minutes and it just shut down. i replaced the battery but it still doesnt crank, could it just need a new starter? thanks

If the car just shut off on its own that isn't the starter. Sounds to me like your electrical connections, specifically your positive cable and connections. Don't just assume that the cable itself is good, I've seen more than one cable that was bad inside. So, start at the basics, check all the connections first, make sure they are all clean. Test the cables with a continuity tester if possible. You can also use jumper cables to make the same connections to test out the connections.

More than likely it is something pretty simple.
Current Mopar
70 Challenger RT 440-6 EFI, 73 Cuda 416-6 EFI
05 Hemi Durango, 01 Ram 4x4, 14 Ram 2500 4X4, 10 PCP Challenger 6 spd RT, 01 Viper GTS ACR, 52 B3B w/330 Desoto Hemi, 70 Hemi RR (under const)
Past Mopars
9 x Challengers. AAR Cuda, 4 RR, 2 GTX, 4 Chargers, etc... (too many to list)
