Lame Newbie VIN Question
« on: July 16, 2005 - 08:20:10 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm just trying to check my VIN # against the engine/trans codes to check if my numbers match.

All of the online resources say that the last 8 digits of my VIN should match the 8 digits on the engine block (number on the lower passenger side).

My VIN plate on the door, fender tags,  and dash is BS23H2B343821.  That's only 6 digits for the sequential code.  So what do I have to match to my engine block code, which is something like 0B87162 (very hard to read) TIA, Max

If the last 6 #s match the with the cowl, the fender tag, rad. support, etc. then your ok.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Thats correct, last 8 are year, assembly plant, and sequential #. They should be stamped on the cowl, radiator support, engine, and trans.
