70 Cuda electric fuel pump placement?

1970 Cuda with a 670 Holley carb on it. Starter drain the battery every time it's been sitting a while, so I need to install a electric fuel pump.
I have a Holley Black fuel pump w/regulator I need to put somewhere. I assume I need to make a bracket of some kind...

Anyone got any pictures or descriptions of how they've done this?

Thinking I need to put it between the fuel tank and rear axle by somehow dropping down an ugly homemade bracket there, but I'm not sure.

Some advice or pictures of setups would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have any pictures but you can't post any here anyway. That said, you can mount it off the shock mount/brace. I had on one my 70 Challenger mounted there, you could/should mount it lower than the outlet of the tank, however since you are using this as a helper (priming) pump it is not as critical. Make sure it is a flow through pump meaning that if you turn it off fuel can still flow through it.

Yeah was thinking of cutting out the mech pump and just run the electric one and read somewhere it had to sit low.
However, I'll try it your way.
My Holley Black fuel pump is not "flow thru", so I just ordered a Airtex E8090 Flow thru fuel pump.

No problem. I had a Holley electric pump on my 70 challenger as a "helper" which I would use to basically prime the system when I was running the carb 6 pack, but then I changed to an EFI 6 pack so all good now.

Well, a second reason.  I also have the "takes a while to prime stuff" issue even on my 318 50 cfm eddy.

But I recently had the fuel pump go out on me...had to get towed home....thank goodness for AAA.....but then the new pump I had on my shefl for a few years ( a "spectra premium") ALSO failed days later once installed....a third (carter) from rockauto fixed me up so far.

The first pump (some 10 years old) failed internally.....the second new pump failed externally and leaked fuel out its weep holes.....

I think having a backup electric would be a good thing. Though I am not sure how that would work.....when  standard pump fails, doesn't it fail at the diaphragm and therefore dump fuel into the oil? Wouldn't pumping thru a blown mechanical pump make that problem worse?

Yes, if you had a broken mech pump that was leaking fuel either inside or out an electric pump would definitely make it worse, but you could if needed develop a by pass kit by disconnecting the "IN" and "OUT" lines from the mech pump and connecting them. This would then let the electric pump feed the carb. That said, you have to be sure that the electric pump is not producing too much pressure or it will flood the carb. You can buy electric pumps that only put out about 7 psi and that would work or install a regulator with a gauge post mechanical pump that would allow you to determine if the mechanical pump is working and regulate the electric pump.
