American Hot Rod
« on: July 16, 2005 - 09:08:06 PM »
I find myself watching any and every show that has to do with cars or trucks. Whether is it is restoration or modification.  I am not particulary fond of Boyd Coddington's personality or style but still watch American Hot Rod.  I mainly just hope that I might learn something and love watching cars come together.  Anyway, has anybody noticed that he has an early 70's Challenger in his shop in the last two episodes?  I hope we will get a climpse of it finished.  I think it would be interesting to see what he does to it compared to Foose.   :boxer:  :dontknow:

Ya, I've seen it also.  In one of the episodes the challenger was outside and they showed it from the back.  It looked like it had 72-74 taillights.  I wonder if they are going to show them working on it at all?

I noticed that Chally in the background of Boyd's shop too, and it caught my interest... a friend of a friend is involved with that show, and keeps promising to take me over to meet Boyd and check out the shop... don't worry, I'll bring the camera!  :grinyes:

The one thing about Boyd is that he does do what the customer wants, as opposed to Foose who ALWAYS puts a "two-tone" paint job and his own wheels on the car, shaves handles, etc.  Every Foose car that I've ever seen looks just like every other Foose car... talk about a one-track mind!  But we've all seen Boyd do cars that were accurate replicas of vintage rods (the blue Hillebrandt roadster) as well as modernized, chopped up cars (like the Impala).  So if I had to pick, I'd rather see Boyd do a Chally than Foose, especially after seeing how ricey Chip made that Overmauled Chally look...   :ack:

I've watched it twice, both times Boyd was making an a$$ of himself, he's a dork.

I saw the Chally last week too.  When they are working on the Impala, you can see it in the background.  It looks like its in primer now.

That show sucks big time, two minutes of car building and the rest of the time it's a soap opera. I was hoping these shows would give ya tips and tricks on how to do certain things to cars the right way, but instead it's like the Jerry Springer of the auto world.

What kills me most about American Hotrod is how they always have to rush the work.  They do things so half arsed and these people are paying top dollar these cars.  I would not even feel safe in half of the cars they build.
