70 Challenger Horn Relay Help Needed

Good morning. New here and knee deep in my 70 challenger restoration and need help for a horn relay circuit issue.
When connecting the + cable from stater relay to the battery , it sparks and the horn relay in the fuse panel clicks. The horns go off as well and I’ve taken the steering wheel off to eliminate the possibility the horn contact “ button” was the issue. I’ve traced the circuits and everything seems correct. Any help would be truly appreciated as wiring isn’t my strength. Could the horn relay itself be the issue ? Thanks so much.

You will probably have to pull your steering can off. At the bottom of the can there is a race that maintains contact with a plate as the steering wheel turns.  When you press the horn button, that completes a circuit to  ground causing the horn to blow.  The wire that contacts the plate behind the can may be grounded or the wire that runs through the can may have fallen off causing it to go to ground. If those wires touch metal anywhere, the horn blows.

I would disconnect the column harness connector first and see if that changes anything. If it doesn't spark/beep then the probably is definitely in the column.
